"When I first met my teacher Mr. Everett Raymond Kinstler, N.A.,
the country's foremost portrait painter of six American presidents, (EverettRaymondKinstler.com),
he stressed an artist must make painting from life and nature the "highest priority."
This has now become an important part of my process. These head studies were all painted
from life in three hours or less.
Forever thanks to Mr. Kinstler and to my gracious sitters."

video "The Face of Ventura" on YouTube.
...an on-going art project in the old mission town of Ventura, CA, to paint 55 worthy
Venturans, each in a single sitting, painted directly from life at this artists
Bell Arts Factory studio in around two hours - and each captured by The Ventura Breeze
Newspaper. No photos are used, the direct interaction with the sitter, hearing and painting
their story, is the purpose of the challenge, along with the artists wish to showcase
the relevant world of painterly portraiture today. This feature will run in the Breeze
over the next two years. Readers are invited to nominate a special person for the series.
Johanna's Face of Ventura series - and her sitters- are also featured on the radio
show Lyn Fairly & Friends, every Saturday from noon to 1pm on News Talk
