Learn to paint with confidence and understanding of how light works. Think value first, comparative degree of light and dark falling on an object, color second. This class covers all aspects of painting, still life, portrait and figure, as the teacher believes the value lessons apply to all . Students use a mid-toned palette keyed to seeing color as 'color-values'. Beginners start painting simple form, an apple, in black and white. Advanced use the same basic value approach with dazzling result. Frequent demo's/critiques/references to the masters: glazing, palette knife, wet-into wet, scumbling. Freqent fun. A new still-life set up every two weeks around color compliments, a different model from life set-up each week. |
