I have
always been fascinated with God's most impressive creation: the human
form. When I was young I would draw faces and people constantly. After
graduating with honors from the Art Institute of Dallas I became a
Fashion Illustrator in the retail industry. It was such good experience
being able to draw from models daily for years.
I then went into Advertising Illustration, Fabric Design and eventually
to teaching Art.
I believe this background has been key to my development as a Portrait
Artist. Throughout the years the love of painting people in the classical
manner has always been very fulfilling to me. Seeing a person weep
when they receive a portrait of a loved one and knowing that they
have invested in an heirloom that will last for many generations gives
me great satisfaction.
I am a member of the plein-air painting group The Outdoor Painters
Society, and Portrait Artists of America. I have studied numerous
times with Kay Polk. I have also been involved in workshops with Doug
Dawson, William Schneider, and Daniel Gerhartz. |
