Planning the Portrait
The portrait is planned by discussing with the client the
size and setting for the portrait. Some of the
considerations include: impressions and personality of the
subject, the ambiance of the home or office, dimensions of
the area where the portrait will hang, and framing. Then a
photography session planned.
Portrait Procedure
This involves a sitting, using the camera to record various
poses and expressions. When the photographs are developed,
the client will choose which photograph best reflects the
likeness of the sitter(s). The subject may need to sit for
one additional sitting. Commissions usually require two to four months from start to finish, depending on size and complexity of the portrait. Large,
involved portraits may require an additional sitting with a finish date from six to eight
months. Drawing commissions require four to six weeks.
