Procedure

Sonia travels to her portrait subjects to obtain photographic and artistic references to utilize in creating her portraits, as well as to get to know the character of her portrait subject(s).

With over ten years of experience painting commissioned portraits, Sonia knows how to be sure her clients are comfortable every step of the way. She listens carefully to all pertinent details so as to be able to respond intuitively to the requirements of the commission. She communicates clearly and promptly; as well as creates charcoal and oil sketches, as is helpful depending upon the scope of the commission.

The artist will first meet/talk on the phone with the client to discuss all the key details of the commission. She will then conduct a photography session, after which the top photographs for reference will be reviewed on her laptop. The artist will utilize any sketches made and a range of the photographs taken to capture the subject’s character and likeness. After approval, the final portrait will be shipped, may be picked up at her studio or if the client is local the painting may be brought for viewing in the client's home or other setting where it will be hung.
