I
was born an artist. If I were to list the things that I am; woman,
wife, mother, daughter, artist would be first. I remember the moment
that I realized this. It was at the 1964 World Fair. Vividly I recall
standing on the crowded conveyor belt that took the spectators pass
the attraction. As it came into view tears filled my eyes my heart
pounded, I recall stepping to my left so I could hold my ground
in the presence of this miracle for just a few moments more. On
the car ride home in the crowded back seat with my sisters and their
prizes of the day I held tightly to a small plastic replica of Michelangelo's
Pieta' and I knew that I had received the greatest gift of all.
Even with five daughters my mother recognized and supported my
passion for art. She made sure that I had the lessons and supplies
needed to grow as an artist. I studied at Moore College of Art where
I learned the necessity of strong basic skills and Monmouth University
where I earned my BFA. I call my 25 years of portrait commissions
my Masters Degree. My professors were all of my wonderful clients
that challenged me and saw in me a Portrait Painter.
