After graduating with honors from Rutgers University in 1987, Nanette Fluhr continued her
art studies at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where she earned a Bachelor
of Fine Arts Degree and received the Rhodes Family Award for Outstanding Achievement.
It was at SVA where she met John Frederick Murray, who taught her drawing, painting and picture
making skills gleaned from the techniques of the Old Masters. Mr. Murray became her mentor,
and under his tutelage she painted museum-quality replicas of works by Rembrandt, Velazquez,
Van Dyke, Rubens, Lawrence and LeBrun while she was a registered copyist with the Metropolitan
Museum of Art in New York.
